Dear Liberty,

Today is Mother's Day.  I have a wonderful mother, your grandmother, who I will write to you about later because all I can think about today is how thankful I am to be your mother.

Your dad and I had been married almost 19 years with no plans of children when we found out about you.  From that moment on my life has never been the same.  From that moment on I had a real purpose.  From that moment on I have been a mom.  I can't even remember life without you.

Thank you for saying, "Morning, mommy" every morning and "night, mommy, I love you," when I put you to bed.  Thank you for saying, “Please”, “thank you” and “you're welcome” and shaking pastor's hand as we leave church.  Thank you for hiding behind my leg when you meet someone new and saying, "Goodbye, see you later" when we leave them.  Thank you for giving me hugs and kisses and screaming, “Again, mommy” when I give you zerberts.  Thank you for requesting, “Come here, mommy” more times than you shoo me away.  Thank you for stating, “One more time” five times in a row as you run around the playground to go down the slide yet again.  Thank you for climbing up on grandma's piano and playing your own tune while proudly singing, “Jesus”, and that’s your only lyric.  Thank you also for belting out the words to 'Wagon Wheel' after seeing a Duck Dynasty display in the middle of the Family Christian Store.

Thank you for looking to me for guidance and thank you for forgiving me when I make mistakes.  Thank you for testing your independence but still running to my arms when you need me.  Thank you for giving me the chance to see the world through different eyes.

You have made me into the person I've always wanted to be.  Because of you I have more compassion, more understanding, more patience, and more love than I have ever had before.  You've helped me realize what's really important and what can be laughed off.  Vaseline on grandpa's family rocker and butt paste all over your Fisher Price tent set come to mind.  You have allowed me to have more careers and accomplishments than I could have ever achieved on my own in the business world.  You make me laugh, you make me cry, you make me smile, and you make me proud.

Thank you for coming into my life and allowing me to be your mom.

     That’s my 2 cents.

Love,

Mom
